Basic Level Course 2026 in Salzburg and Lohnsburg
The fifth generation of the IBU Coach Education Basic Level Course successfully concluded its week of education in Salzburg and Lohnsburg, Austria. 21 participants from 17 National Federations participated in a six-day programme, designed to introduce fundamental biathlon coaching knowledge to aspiring coaches.
This year's course took place across several locations: Sports Center Salzburg-Rif, the biathlon venue in Lohnsburg, and at the IBU Headquarters in Anif. 12 female and 9 male coaches from all over the world deepened their understanding of the sport’s multifaceted demands through an engaging and intensive week of theory and practical modules.
The course was led by IBU Educators Rafal Lepel (POL) and Martina Seidl (GER), whose guidance ensured a well-structured and insightful learning journey. In addition, participants benefited from a lineup of renowned lecturers, each bringing specialized knowledge to the programme:

Engelbert Sklorz and Gerold Sattlecker – Shooting Fundamentals

Dagmara Gerasimuk – The Business of Sport
Each session contributed to building a well-rounded skill set, preparing the attendees for their future roles as effective and knowledgeable biathlon coaches.
Reflecting on the week, Gerold Sattlecker, Head of the IBU Academy, emphasized the course’s importance:
